More than 150 units of blood were collected during the two-day drive, exceeding last year’s collection of 123 units.

Local firefighters won this year's Battle of the Badges American Red Cross blood drive in a two-day friendly competition pitting firefighters against police.

The final vote tally was 88 for firefighters and 66 for police.

More than 150 units of blood were collected during the two-day drive, exceeding last year’s collection of 123 units.

With each unit of blood having carrying the potential to help three people, donors helped more than 450 people with their lifesaving donations.

The drive was held Tuesday and Wednesday at the Allen County Chapter House of the American Red Cross.
