Lima Native and Comedienne Phyllis Diller Dead at 95

Diller was born Phyllis Ada Driver in Lima in 1917- and met her first husband Sherwood Diller- at Bluffton College. They had 6 children.

A comedy legend- born in Lima- has died.

Phyllis Diller died on Monday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 95.

Those close to her said she worked- and was active- in recent months.

Diller was born Phyllis Ada Driver in Lima in 1917- and met her first husband Sherwood Diller- at Bluffton College. They had 6 children.

Her show business career got going in 1952- at a radio station in Oakland California.

Diller went on to star in her own variety show- and teamed up numerous times with another entertainer with Ohio ties- Bob Hope.

The Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival- which took place in Lima this summer- gave their 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award to Phyllis Diller.
