Sophie Jolliff from the Liberty Arts Magnet school decided that red should be that color

A writing assignment that had students thinking about what bill they could write into law got a Lima City Schools student  thinking about Ohio not having a state color.

Sophie Jolliff from the Liberty Arts Magnet school decided that red should be that color- because of the state bird being red and the Ohio State Buckeyes- so she wrote a letter to State Representative Matt Huffman suggesting that red become Ohio’s state color.

Huffman responded in favor of Sophie’s suggestion- and had a bill drafted- designating "scarlet red" as the official state color.
