Some misconceptions have been cleared up in a written response by Celina City Schools Superintendent Jesse Steiner- in response to claims and a petition by a group using the website www.change.org

Steiner said accusations against school officials not allowing for a gay-straight alliance to be formed by students is not accurate.

Steiner explained school policies on forming clubs- and said that no one had even applied to form a new club or organization.

He also said in the statement that no student had been disciplined for showing support for a gay-straight alliance group.
