Governor John Kasich has signed into law state senator Cliff Hite’s initiative to expand and modernize Ohio’s 9-1-1 operations as well as renew and reduce the fee structure necessary to continue this invaluable service.
Senator Hite was recently appointed as a member of the Statewide Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network Steering Committee, which was tasked with creating a plan to renew the 9-1-1 fee while also developing a strategy for making Ohio’s emergency services more efficient and cost-effective.
Under Hite’s plan, each county will be required to reduce their number of P-S-A-P's over a 6-year time frame, with the possibility of accelerating that schedule as advances in technology permit. It also reduces the 28-cent fee to 25-cents.
