The state highway patrol says it took place around 6-30pm- when Officer Jared Hostetler was struck by a passing vehicle as he approached the vehicle he had stopped on U-S 33 eastbound.

A police officer in Russels Point in Logan County was struck by another vehicle as he was on a routine traffic stop on Wednesday.

The state highway patrol says it took place around 6-30pm- when Officer Jared Hostetler was struck by a passing vehicle as he approached the vehicle he had stopped on U-S 33 eastbound.

Officer Hostetler was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine to be treated for minor injuries.

The patrol is seeking information- since the car that struck the officer drove away without stopping.
