Hospitals are required by the Joint Commission to have disaster response plans in place- and to conduct periodic drills for improvement and training purposes.
On Thursday Lima Memorial Health Systems- in collaboration with several local agencies- conducted a mock evacuation drill where mock patients were evacuated to the nearby Forest Park United Methodist Church.
Steve Mericle- one of the hospital's administrators- explained the importance of being ready in case a disaster would ever happen.
