The driver of a Chevy Blazer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner.
Clean-up is continuing after a major accident took place on U-S 24 in Paulding County on Tuesday morning.
Vehicles traveling east and westbound began to take evasive action to avoid the initial crash, resulting in seven more crashes. At least 9 people were transported to numerous hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Paulding County Progress newspaper identified the victim as 28 year-old Ashley Messman of Paulding.
Fourteen vehicles ended up involved: 11 commercial vehicles, two passenger cars and a pickup truck hauling excavating equipment.
At the time of the crash, visibility was reported to be less than 100 feet due to the heavy fog.
