A 50-year-old Minster woman died when she drove off of Canal Road One and hit a tree. Ina Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is looking into a one-car fatal accident that took place just after 2-30 in the afternoon on Thursday.

A 50-year-old Minster woman died when she drove off of Canal Road One and hit a tree.

Ina Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was heading eastbound- east of state Route 66- when she attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve. Her vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Smith was trapped inside the Jeep Cherokee- and emergency responders had to use the Jaws of Life.

Smith’s dog was inside her vehicle but not seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation.
