London, England (Sports Network) - American Missy Franklin smashed a world record Friday night to win the women's 200-meter backstroke for her third gold medal of the London Olympics.

Franklin's time of 2 minutes, 4.06 seconds broke Kirsty Coventry's world mark from 2009 by .75 seconds. Franklin also won the 100 back. She has four medals overall here.

Russia's Anastasia Zueva was second and American Elizabeth Beisel took bronze.
