It is an incredibly busy time for yours truly, thus the lack of posting lately.

Today as I prep for the LCC-OG game it strikes me what an accomplishment it is to be a District Champion.

Just like League/Conference titles are often overshadowed by what teams do in the tournament, District Championships are sometimes relegated or downgraded in the historical context.

I would like to put into context for you why a District Title already makes all of these teams a success.

When you think of high school coaches many first think of Dick Kortokrax, the all-time wins leader. He's been coaching for over 50 years and has "only" 10 District Titles. Fewer than 1 in 5 Kortokrax teams got to the Regional.

Bob Seggerson, who has a remarkable tournament record of 72-31, also won 10 District Titles. Even with that fewer than 1/3 of Seg's teams made it to the Regionals.

O-G's Dave Sweet had a similar track record (66-25 in tournament) and earned 8 District Championships in 26 years as Head Coach of the Titans.

And the great Bob Arnzen claimed 8 Districts in his long career.

The point is: If you're still playing you deserve a salute.
