Lima Senior has a chance to win three games in a row this Friday night as they entertain the Toledo St. Francis Knights at Lima Stadium.
As a am preparing for the broadcast on Friday night I have uncovered a clarification on the last time the Spartans won back to back games ON THE FIELD.
It was reported last week that Lima won back to back games in 2004 and that is technically correct. However, if you take out the game that was won by forfeit on Sept. 3, Lima didn't win back to back games that season.
The last time Lima Senior actually won two games in a row ON THE FIELD was Week 3 and Week 4 of the 2000 season.
That team technically won four games in a row as the next week's game with Lake Central out of Indiana was awarded to Lima via forfeit before Lima then knocked off Zanesville in Week 6.
But again, ON THE FIELD, Lima hasn't won three games in a row since 1999.
Going back to that 2004 season, that was the turning point from struggling to absolutely horrible for the Spartan program.
After five games, Lima was 3-2 thanks to the forfeit and then opened Greater Buckeye Conference play at home with Napoleon.
The Wildcats overwhelmed the Spartans that night, 60-6.
From that night through Week 2 of this season, the Spartans would lose 43 of 47 games, including 20 in succession.
A 49-42 win at Piqua two weeks ago ended that losing streak and now Lima hopes to string together three in a row. And we'll be there to bring it to you here on WIMA.
