Cupp Supports School Security

Lima, OH (WIMA) - State Representative Bob Cupp recently acknowledged he supported the passage of a bill to establish qualifications for school resource officers.

Currently there are no statutory requirements for training or authorization of specific duties for resource officers, but House Bill 318 would establish those criteria.

House Bill 318 also permits resource officers to provide a specified range of services to the school they serve.

The bill also provides an appropriation to provide grants to schools that are interested in establishing an SRO program.
